Audio Cutout Issue on iPhone 16 Pro

Issue Overview

While recording videos using the iPhone 16 Pro, some of them will have no audio from one point going forward. The audio cannot be recovered and once lost, the audio does not reappear later in the same video.

Example 1:

Video duration is 04:26, audio disappears at 01:54.

Example 2:

Video duration 01:28, audio disappears at 00:13

Example 3:

Video duration 09:49, audio disappears at 01:01

Settings where the issue occurs

Record Video 4K at 120 fps

Record Video 4K at 30 fps

Portrait and Landscape Format

Conditions

Outside temperature 0ºC - 15ºC, harsh lights, loud ambient sound (helicopter flight).

iPhone storage at time of recording less than 120 GB of 512 GB.

Versions

iPhone 16 Pro

Issue encountered on iOS 18.1.0 as well as on iOS 18.1.1

Additional Information

There is no way to recover the missing audio.

After transferring the video to the Mac, audio is still missing even if the file is opened in QuickTime, VLC, DaVinci Resolve and Preview.
