archive utility takes forever to unzip

I updated to Mojave back in October 2018. My computer crashed during the update and Apple replaced my hard drive. Old computer - late 2012 with a new hard drive. I have had so many issues. It just acts weird and slow and sometimes I think I have a memory leak when I'm using Photoshop or other Adobe CC apps. I'm trying to unzip a bunch of files and they are taking forever... normally I double click and it takes a few seconds. I'm talking after many minutes they are still going...

Observations/suggestions for part 4 of the report:

  1. EtreCheck has made some suggestion on what you can remove in the "Clean up" section of the report. I suggest doing so.
  2. Again, without Full Disk Access, any diagnostics information will not be available. EtreCheck does not collect or provide any user information, so enabling this would not be a security risk or provide any personal information in the report. However, it would enable the ability for EtreCheck to access these diagnostic reports from your Mac. If you are uncomfortable with sending this information, I totally understand, but they may prove helpful to you even if you don't want to include them in your reply.
  3. ... and thank you very much for helping folks in the Adobe user forums. I might have come across your help when I looked for assistance with Adobe issues of my own.

Don't hesitate to post here or any of the other Apple support areas if you need help. There are a lot of folks here that are glad to assist you. Plus, before you know it, you'll become the forum's Adobe expert as I've seen a number of posts here related to Adobe products.

FWIW. I'm still holding out judgement about any of the macOS operating systems since Sierra. My "favorite" to date has been El Capitan and still have a number of my Macs running it.

Some observations/suggestions in part 2:

  1. Unless you need it, I suggest removing GoToMeeting.
  2. When running, Backblaze will use up a significant amount of system resources which can be seen as taking a performance hit. I suggest using the Activity Monitor app to see exactly how much when it is running. I'm not suggesting not using this service, but any Cloud-based backup services will cause a performance hit.

Thanks for your help. I spend much of time answering questions on the Adobe user forums and know how much time and effort goes into it.

May 7, 2019 11:20 AM in response to Melissa Cyber Element Inc

Since you posted this in multiple parts ... I'm guessing that you didn't catch the part of using the "Additional text" option I mentioned in the support article, I'll try responding for each part.

To get a complete report, you would need to enable Full Disk Access via System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Full Disk Access. What's especially missing is any diagnostics reports, i.e., kernel panics, etc. that could prove helpful.

Other than that, nothing to report in this first section.

May 7, 2019 11:26 AM in response to Melissa Cyber Element Inc

Things look pretty good here in part 3 of the report. One thing to look at is what the "Other processes" taking up 67% CPU processing is. Again, Activity Monitor would be helpful. Remember this report is just a snapshot in time. This "Other processes" item may not be there when running another report ... but, if it is, you may want to do some additional investigating on the culprit(s).

Thanks for taking the time to go through all of this for me. I know my Adobe stuff and used to know my Apple stuff, but so much has changed over the past 20+ years ;P. I need goToMeeting... I'm an Adobe instructor and use it to teach. I'll take a look at the other stuff. Not loving Mojave, it has created so many issues. I'm hoping it just the OS - not quite ready to buy a new system.
