I have a very outdated iMac and i can't update my software

I can't download any new apps because I have the OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 software. Im having a hard time updating the software. Whenever i go to the app store, it says there aren't any updates available. My iMac is also from the year of 2007. Will I ever be able to update this?

OS X Server (Yosemite)

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and download El Capitan from the Mac App Store.
