Is it possible to allow a particular app through the DND feature while it is active?

Example:

DND is active during bedtime to avoid unnecessary interruptions during the night. While contacts on the favorite list are able to get through with DND active all other calls and notifications are not; that is to included notification from critical apps such as a medication tracker app, local alerts and/or media notifications (some families leave overseas and whatsApp and one of the main media communication method).
