Apple Music on Android

Interested in setting up Apple Music family sharing. Once downloaded by the organizer, can that music be downloaded to an Android phone? Or, can it only be used by Apple devices?

I can't comment on the family angle, but I have a single subscription to Apple Music on an Android phone, and the music downloads fine (I use to it to play music on my phone on the tube).
