I have tried everything to create a ringtone from an audio file. I have converted it to aac format, moved it to the desktop and changed m4r to m4a after deleting it from itunes....everything I've found online. But it still won't copy into the ringtones. It has copied into the music files, but not ringtones.
What am I doing wrong?I'm trying to put it on an iphone 6s

No, I have neither of those and am working on a PC. I just need to take a ringtone I used with my former phone and get it on my iphone 6s to use.
I'll check this again later when I have some time to check it out, but I think these are the steps I already tried with no success.
