Is there going to be (or already exists) a way to back up phone to a PC or is this forcing the hand for iCloud or Mac purchasing?
i have an iPad Pro and iPhone XR. I backed up my phone to my cloud to get the transfer over but I want to switch back to keeping backups on my computer. If iTunes will cease to exist, is this possible or am I being forced into purchasing more Apple stuff?

Itunes will continue to available for users of Windows and older macOS. The forthcoming change will affect users who upgrade their MacOS to Catalina where iTunes is being split into 3 apps. About the upcoming changes with iTunes on Mac - Apple Support.
