Let a family member use used iphone

I want to let a family member use my iphone7S, how should i do the set up and avoid mess up? (I am asking due to i destoried another iphone when doing so, now the 1 year old iphone6S is like a brick. )

Use the following procedure on the old phone and then set it up the same way that you would a new phone. What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

The family member will need to contact a cellular provider regarding cellular service.
