Have you tried using another USB port on the Mac?

Have you restarted your computer?

Connect the SuperDrive directly to the Mac without any hubs or adapters. If your computer only has USB-C ports, then try using another USB-C to USB-A adapter. Even another brand of adapter.

Try an SMC reset and PRAM reset (hold the PRAM reset for at least a full minute so it activates several times).

Try the SuperDrive on another Mac.

If these things don't help and the same issue occurs with another Mac, then it sound like the SuperDrive is defective.
