You should be able to upgrade the Mac OS on your MacBook to the most current version, which is macOS Mojave.

Backup your MacBook and use the Mac App Store to up date your MacBook’s OS to macOS Mojave

Then update your version of iTunes to the most latest version to sync your iPad Pro.

How old is this MacBook?

If might be able to run OS X 10.11.6 El Capitán or later.

And you might be able to use this older version of iTunes ( 12.6.5 ) found here.

iTunes 12.6.5 found in this link here.

iTunes 12.6.5 for the Mac requires OS X 10.11.4 or later. Not sure of Windows PC system requirement.

There are a few more things you would need to do, but do not want to add this info until we know how old a MacBook we are dealing with.
