Mojave Apple Calendar Spinning Wheel on New Event

Every time I create an event in Apple Calendar, I get the spinning rainbow wheel for a minute or two. Any idea why this might be?

Running Mojave 10.14.6 on a new Macbook Pro 2019

Boot into Safe Mode and try creating an event there. Any improvement? Reboot normally and try again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.
