icloud drive

I just installed an update. Now it seems my iCloud Drive is activated. When I want to stop this, my files on the desktop seem to be removed. This is very frustrating. How can I stop this? I don't want to use iCloud Drive and only want to work locally on my Mac!

Do you get an option to keep the files on the computer when turning off iCloud Drive? You can archive your data before turning off iCloud Drive so you have a copy of the files. Once iCloud Drive is turned off, you can drag the copy to where you want it.
