After updating iPhone XS to IOS 13 I wanted to update my watch's OS. It keeps telling me it is unable to check for update (in the watch app) because I am not connected to the internet. The phone is connected to the internet and I have also tried reseting network settings on the phone.

You might want to try restarting the router and the iPhone and then trying again or try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings and log into your router again. Also force restart the Watch.
