In order to select multiple photos for purchasing copies, I am holding down the shift and command keys. This prevents my being able to scroll down to choose all the pictures I want to have printed.

Hold the command key allows you to select multiple selections.
The shift key, if you make a selection scroll down make another selection it will highlight everything in between.
