I love my watch (Version4 - Cellular Version) but I want one that does NOT need to be set up or linked with an iphone. I want the choice of phone separately as I very rarely have the need for the phone function. If Apple were to bring out a watch that is independent of the phone I would be happy to pay any price (well almost!)

Its that “Almost” that is the issue.
What you want my very well happen, but today the chips are capability limited to conserve space and power.
When the tech catches up with your desires, I’m sure someone will sell the “Dick Tracy” watch. And just so you know, the later Dick Tracy Watch versions were video phones as well.
