I often record audio to my mac book from a 4 channel mixing board that i would plug in through the 3.5mm trs jack but now out of nowhere my mac doesn't want to recognize the input channel, only output? i've tried every trick in the book and i'm out of luck.. i just find it weird that it used to read it as both input and output but now only output..? anyone know something to fix it??

Reset your SMC and Your NVRAM.
Changes occur, and sometimes, as a result, your Mac needs to reset itself. as a way to get back to its default operations. So, reset the above.
