Latest Safari update won't load certain webpages

After the latest Safari update, about Sept 20, 2019, I was not able to open links to a web site that I have used for years: "Seeking Alpha". I tried the reload icon with blockers disabled to no avail. I had to switch to Firefox as my default browser, and then had no trouble. Anyone have suggestions or a solution for this problem? In connection with the update, there was a popup about extensions, and I added the reasonable ones - are particular extensions now required?

Safari can’t open a website

 Safari – slow page loads

Safari - Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

Safari doesn't load a page or webpage items are missing

Web Content not responding

Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Safe Mode - About

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin

Thanks for the guidance. I don't have a VPN, but am running Bitdefender anti-virus. I set up a second admininstrator account, logged myself out, and then logged in with the new admin account. I could then access the site and load web pages. It worked. I restarted, held down the shift key, and tried to start up in safe mode. The apple and the progress bar came up, but the loading was extremely slow, and stopped with the bar full. I finally had to unplug the machine, and then restarted. After this, I could load the web site as I used to! What does all this mean? Maybe it just needed the restart. Thanks again for your time.
