Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. It appears the Mac is not upgrading to macOS Catalina because the disk drive is grayed out. I'll be happy to help.


Here are some suggestions:

    1. Start the Mac in macOS Recovery: About macOS Recovery
    2. Use Disk Utility to run first aid: Repair a storage device in Disk Utility on Mac
    3. Mount the disk, if it is unmounted. The button for mounting is usually the last option listed at the top.


If you're still having issues, it might be related to the disk itself. Here are the options for service: Mac Repair - Official Apple Support
