Final cut pro x not listing files on external drive in Mac OS Catalina

I'm using Final cut pro trial version (10.4.6) for last 20 days and yesterday upgraded to Mac OS Catalina. After the upgrade, fcpx has stopped showing files in my external drive. My external drive is working fine and all other apps I use are able to read and write files from/to this external drive. Only fcpx's import media dialog doesn't shows any files or folders for this external drive.

A couple of times, fcpx also crashed when browsing files in import media dialog before beginning any import.

Is apple already aware of this issue? is a fix coming?
