I am using macOS 10.15 Catalina. How to I backup my iPhone 11 Pro Max to my MacBook Pro WITHOUT using iCloud? The directions provided in this forum do not resemble what happens when I open my iPhone in Finder. Help ....

Problem solved! Apparently there was a dialog box, hidden behind the main window, which asked if I wanted to encrypt my backup or not. Once I responded to that, the option to perform the backup became live and the backup worked. Sorry for any angst I may have caused. <blush>
