Catalina Install for Brand New iMac

Just purchased a new Mac for my wife. Took it out of the box and I’m trying to install Catalina. The software update indicates that it has downloaded 8.09 of 8.09 GB of data. It seems to have “stalled” and nothing is progressing. Any suggestions?

Let it run for a few hours, if it has stalled then do a forced shutdown and normal restart. The restart will probably have Catalina installed. I'm assuming you fully setup the new Mac before attempting any updates, if not then you probably have a mess on your hands and need to contact AppleCare.
