I have 100K photos in my library.

what is the best way to work on iMac ?

Shall I expand the internal drive, use external drive or iCloud ?

Personally I would use an external HD. You can get an external SSD drive of 1-2 TB and with will run very fast with your library.


I have OWC SSD drives in a OWC USB 3 drive dock.

I find it extremely convenient and easy to swap out additional drive as I need them. I also have a SATA to USB 3 adaptor which I use to swap out different systems I want to boot into.


However, if you need to have your photos available on other devices then the iCloud Library might be best for you. That would require purchasing additional iCloud storage.
