I can hear the movie through airplay but I can't see it

Trying to watch apple TV via airplay. works fine until I play the movie and then I can hear the movie but I can't see it. Any help on this ?

Do you use AirPlay as in-app functionality from some app (which one), or do you use Screen Mirroring?

you'll have to forgive my ignorance, but I think screen mirroring. I chose airplay form my smart tv menu and then connected to my MacBook Air. From there it worked fine until I purchased and played a movie and then I could not see the movie on my computer or my TV. But I could hear it, with a black screen.
