I have the first Apple Watch model A1553 sport. The latest watch update says it’s now available for series 1 but I’ve tried a couple of times to update it and it says my software is up to date at 4.3.2, why will it not update?

A bit confusing but your watch is the 1st generation watch, a series1 watch is a second generation watch,your is the very first apple watch and wont update past watchos4,whereas the series 1 watch will update to watchos6,it's all to do with hardware requirements.
Thanks for explaining, thought I was an idiot and couldnt figure it out.
