1. Microsoft Word; alternatively, you can use products such as LibreOffice or Pages, but they don't offer all the functionality or document compatibility.

2. If you're a paid Office 365 subscriber, Office upgrades are included with it. Otherwise, they'd need to be bought; incremental updates are free.


Catalina isn't compatible with Office versions prior to 2016.

Pages is comparable but only can be downloaded through Mojave and Catalina but on any iOSX.

I use libre office for both Mac and Windows platforms but not with an ipad.
