Why is High Sierra listed as up to date?

my imac is running on os high sierra 10.13.6 and whenever i hit software update it says that it is up to date, yet catalina 10.15 was released in october 2019.


what gives?

Well HS is up-to-date, the furthest it goes is 10.13.6. If you want to install Catalina there are several methods. I'd start by opening System Preferences - and downloanding and installing from there. You can also use:


https://www.apple.com/macos/catalina/ and click the download link.
