Cannot power off iPhone 11

Orientation in iMessage app frozen in vertical mode. Lock /unlock orientation is ineffective. Tried to restart the phone by pressing recommend buttons, nothing happens.Very frustrating. any advice?

That's not how you power off iPhone 11. To power off iPhone 11, press and hold both the power and volume down button until the slide to power off appears.

But doing the force restart would have been a good thing to do to help with orientation issue you're having.

In m y question I mentioned that I tried pressing the button. When I press the side button and hold the only I have black screen for long time and it turns to home screen. The force restart does not work on my phone.

You're welcome. If you precisely followed the force restart procedure, your phone would have restarted and the orientation issue likely resolved. Are you sure you precisely followed the procedure?

Tap and quickly release volume up button

Tap and quickly release volume down button

Press and keep holding power button (keep holding past swipe to power off) until you see the Apple Logo, then let go

OK. Apparently, I followed those steps while my phone had a protective cover on. When I took it off and repeated the steps-everything worked fine. Thank you. Suggesting to "undress" the phone, would eliminate the confusion.

I appreciate your patience and persistence.

Thank you. Pressing power and button down to power off and restart iPhone 11 helped. I wish this instruction was given originally . Force restart procedure given above, did not work.
