how to view 'Other' storage on a new MacBook.

I have a new macbook and somehow ive used 186gb of 'other' storage. I don't have any music, downloads, or cache to clear.

Is there a way I can view this data?

Seems silly buying a new MacBook with an advertised 250gb for it to be taken up with some storage needed to run itself. So I assume something has been installed that I can't find.

Any help would be appreciated.

'Other' items taking up space on a drive. It can be mail, trash, apps. Back ups in various apps, especially iTunes can also take up space.
