How can I use search and replace to put in paragraph breaks (some sort of symbol??)

What keystroke combination can I use to indicate a paragraph break in "Search and Replace"? in Pages or TextEdit

The keystroke combo for a paragraph break is \n. You can also use Option+return to enter this code in the Find dialog box. This also works for tab, Option+tab.
