Receiving an error while downloading the Catalina's update

Dear specialist,

I tried to update my macOS from Mojave to Catalina many times, but every time that download process has been finished, I will receive an error: "The update could not be verified. An error occurred while installing the selected updates.". Furthermore, I tried to download that manually from https://support.apple.com/downloads, but this link contains 10.15.1 and 10.15.2 versions of that, which both of them requires macOS version 10.15. to install. Please guide me to install 10.15. version of macOS manually or please tell other ways to install that.

Thank you in advance.

Yes so you discard the Install macOS Catalina.app that you downloaded and then try downloading it again.

Make sure that it is the full download of 8.14GBs.

How are you connecting to your router?

Going from one OS to another is called an upgrade not an update, using the correct terminology

helps to clarify matters.

If you want to upgrade to Catalina then you need to download the full installer available through the App store,

How to upgrade to macOS Catalina – Apple Support

The updates you downloaded will not install as they need you to have already installed an earlier version of

Catalina so discard them, the full installer from the link above will install version 10.15.2.

The full installer is 8.14GBs in size and takes along time to download, to ensure the download is done as

quickly as possible and does not disconnect it is best to do it using a wired connection to your router, for a

MacBook Air you will probably need to use a USB to Ethernet cable or a Thunderbolt to Ethernet cable.

If other devices you have share your internet connection then restrict them from accessing your router

whilst your mac is downloading.

Make a full back up of your mac before upgrading to Catalina, and are you prepared that your third party apps

that might be 32bit will no longer function in Catalina. contact the developers of those apps to see if they are

providing 64bit updates. Use this apps to search for your 32bit apps, https://www.stclairsoft.com/Go64/

Thank you very much Eau for your complete guides. Unfortunately I tried many times to receive that from App store with good internet connection and the update package has been fully downloaded, but after finishing the process, I will receive that error (The update could not be verified. An error occurred while installing the selected updates.). I mean the download process will be completed, but that error appears when it comes to start installing.
