Since Apple crippled down the extensions in Safari, what's the best way to block ads, popups and other distracting content in Safari (under Mojave/Catalina)?

Yep, I'm well aware of the existing extensions, I'm just wondering if there's any experience with the existing extensions?
Are they on par with the competing browser's ad blocking capabilities or is it time to switch?

There are some ad blocking extensions in the App Store that are compatible with Safari 13. I haven't tried any of them, so I can't make a recommendation. Go Safari/Safari Extensions.
