I am locked out of Mac air

I have recently bought my new MacBook Air, I’ve created a password and now forgotten after trying a few times it tells me I can reset my account password with my Apple ID credentials, I then put my Apple ID and password in but it doesn’t work even thought it is definitely my details, can anyone please help ASAP

You may have to return product with proof of purchase and ask if they can help unlock it.

There are things they can do in person, at an official Apple store, or an authorized service.
