Lost iPad

I lost my iPad Pro 10.5 on 20/12/2019, it was in my backpack that got stolen from my office, found out like an hour after it was stolen immediately marked it as lost in find my app, it showed the last location but appeared as offline, it’s the WiFi cellular but wasn’t connected to a line so it had to be connected to WiFi to appear online. I’ve been checking everyday on the find my app but all I get is the last location the iPad is still offline, till a few minutes ago I receive an email from Apple “Activation Lock is requesting your password on Kibwana’s iPad” the iPad still appears as offline the location has not been updated. What could this be? Has anyone come across the same problem?

That’s awful. It’s horrible when stuff is stolen.

It’s possible that there was a delay from when the request was made to when you got that email
