My iMac will not complete loading when starting

I started my iMac as usual and there was a download required and I was asked to restart the computer, but on restarting it will not complete the loading and appears stuck at the end of the loading bar.

Try booting into safe mode Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support then restart normally.
