Unrequested find my iphone alert

At 1655 today, my phone gave a loud alarm, and I got a notification of a find my phone alert.

I also received a e-mail to say my phone had played a sound.

2 factor is turned on

share my location is always off

i have family sharing, but, see above paragraph.

i don’t have any other devices on my account.

i didn’t receive any other notifications at any point.

i logged into my iCloud and changed password straight away.

this is sounding a bit too shady for my liking.

Even though your Apple ID might be protected by 2-Factor Authentications, all you need to access Find My Device service at iCloud.com is your Apple ID and password. This said, it looks like someone knew or guess your Apple ID and password.

Changing the password was the right decision.
