Can one turn pages instead of scrolling in iBooks?

I would like to be able to turn pages when I read, as one can in Kindle, rather than having to scroll. Is that a setting I can change?

Open a book and tap AA to turn off scrolling view.

How do I go to the next page in Books without the sliding animation bit? I'm reading a book on the mac. I press the R arrow key to go to the next page. I get a slide show. The page slides off to the left, something goes dark, and then I get my page. I just want to get the page. It's really annoying the way it is, and I can't find any settings for this. TIA! BTW, it's not as bad pressing the L arrow key to go back a page, but I read books in the forward direction. macOS 12.6.2 Books
