Spotlight.app not working

Hi everyone

Since yesterday, the Spotlight icon spontaneously disappeared from my menu bar after a system update, and I cant for the love of me get it to open. I've tried opening it from terminal, opening it from the CoreServices folder (is the icon supposed to be grey?), I've tried reindexing spotlight as well as restarting both Finder and SystemUIServer from Activity Monitor, and I cant find any solutions on the internet.

Have somebody experienced this or does somebody know a fix?

I'm running Mojave 10.14.6 on a Macbook Pro Retina 15" late 2013, and I'd prefer not to update to Catalina if possible.

MacBook Pro 15", macOS 10.14

How to rebuild the Spotlight index on your Mac - Apple Support

If this is a conflict with your third party software you can as a test:

Try a SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

Takes noticeable longer to get to the login screen, does a 5-15 minute disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc. Login and test. Reboot and test will take a little longer as caches get rebuilt.

This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

You can reinstall the combo update for your macOS on top of your exiasting macOS 10.14.6 to sort issues:

Combo update 10.14.6 https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2010?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

or reinstall the macOS on top of your existing macOS to sort issues:
