Slow boot up new iMac

I have a brand new iMac just brought home from the store. It’s taking forever to boot up. It’s already been 15 minutes and it’s not yet started.

Don't waste time trying to fix it. Give it another 15 minutes, then return it as soon as you can if it is still not starting. If you bought directly from Apple (Apple retail store or web order) you have 14 days to return the computer for a no-questions-asked return with full refund. Then get another iMac. If you wait, all Apple will do is try to repair it.

If you bought from an Apple authorized reseller or a third party reseller, you have to ask about their return policy.
