Upgrading to catalina on my macbook pro

I downloa downloaded catalina and i am now at the install screen. I clicked install and nothing is happening. It registered The Click, but nothing's happening. I tried to click it again but it didn't accept it the second time and I'm still on the screen for install. How long should this take?

Quit the installer like any other application.

Reboot into Safe boot mode and launch the installer form there.

It is sitting in your Application s folder— "Install macOS Catalina.app"

SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262

Takes noticeable longer to get to the login screen, does a 5-15 minute disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc. Login and run your installer.app
