Is there a way to select specific files/folders that will be saved to iCloud storage

In the iCloud set up, I only see the option to select Desktop and Documents to backup to iCloud. Is there a way to select specific files and/or folder to backup or NOT backup? There are some items in my Document folder that I don't care if they are backed up and I'm running low on iCloud storage space.

Once iCloud Drive and desktops and documents box is checked https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mchle5a61431/10.14/mac/10.14 , the items ( files / documents ) gets synced with iCloud you can't choose specified items that should not be synced , however some documents that are still precious can be moved to the other location see the last paragraph of the article https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mchl1a02d711/mac
