Can't connect to iTunes account/store

What is the fix for not being able to connect to my iTunes account and the iTunes store? I can connect on my iPhone and my iPad but for some reason, my MacBook doesn't;t connect. I just get a whirling ball of death.

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.14

FINALLY got a fix. I actually got a live human at Apple Support who was helpful. An hour on the phone and discovered I had malicious adware buried inside. Downloaded a free virus program recommended by Apple called Malwarebytes. It found what my other antivirus didn't. The adware was blocking my access to iTunes. Problem finally solved.
