Bluetooth periodically stalls for about 30 seconds

This is a 2018 Mac Mini running Catalina 10.15.4 (however this problem has existed through Mojave and Catalina updates going back for months.

I use a magic keyboard and magic trackpad, and sometimes bluetooth headphones of various makes and models including Bose, Apple, Beats.

At least once a day, sometimes more often, the computer's bluetooth seems to freeze, disconnecting all devices. About 20-30 seconds later, all the devices reconnect and I'm back in business.

I've tried most of the tricks I know of, moving things around, changing thunderbolt cables that might interfere with bluetooth and so on. Also, there have been a number of SMC resets and so forth.

Because you have TB3/USB-C drives and/or other devices in the area,

Try moving the TB3/USB-C devices to the opposite side or behind the Mac Mini away from your Bluetooth devices. If you can isolate a single drive or device that is causing the problem, them try replacing it’s cable with a thicker better shielded cable. You may also want to consider looking for a USB hub that has a thicker better shielded cable to plug those devices into. Also keep in mind that the wireless antenna is on the bottom cover of the Mac Mini and that you might have better results standing the Mac Mini on it’s side.
