Why is it that the new iPhone SE cost more in Canada? In the US 64gb price is $399usd while in Canada $599cad. If you convert the currency it's not even $599cad=$399usd. $399usd is around $560+ in Canadian dollars.
You get my question wrong. Canada has sales tax so if you buy 2020 iPhone SE 64gb for $599CAD plus taxes you will end up paying up to $629CAD. So $629CAD is equivalent to $445USD compared to $399USD price. That being said, the 2020 iPhone SE costs more in Canada.
Yes. And my first attempt to state this here was removed by Apple as I ranted a bit.
This unfair pricing happens to Canadians a lot and
it makes Canadians feel disrespected.
In these trying times, Apple should take note.
I logged onto my computer this morning to finally replace my old SE. Once I saw the unfair Canadian pricing, I changed my mind. It's already very expensive with the exchange, but this price gouging adds insult to injury. I don't care if it is in line for price gouging on other apple products. I wish Canadian consumers would stand up and refuse to buy these products so Apple might be motivated to rethink this policy of treating customers with such disrespect.
Its not the tax, its Apple charging more than the exchange rate.
$ 399 USD = $560 CND before any taxes.
But Apple wants to charge Canadians $599
So, Canadians will pay $40 more per iphone.
No tax on the US amount.
US doesn’t have a federal sales tax.
Tax rate varies by 7.25% to 10%(?).
Oh, how I wish that were the case 😥. Sadly, our tax would be up to 15% on top of that price.

If you compare other models like the Xr or 11 the exchange rate is in line.
