Music- Unable to Add to Library

I find that I can no longer add non-Apple music (MP3s from outside sources, etc) on my Mac (Catalina 10.15.4).

Using Music, the SONG-->ADD TO LIBRARY is greyed out (unavailable).

In the past, I've been able to import MP3s from other sources to my library by simply navigating to the source directory and using ADD TO LIBRARY

What changed?

In Music Preferences, I do not have (and never had) SYNCH LIBRARY selected in MUSIC-->PREFERENCES as the majority of my huge library is ancient-vintage?- MP3s not from iTunes

This was working as expected with SONG-->ADD TO LIBRARY being available as recently as January 13, 2020.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. BE SAFE!!

M Dad,

Find the "Automatically add to Music" folder inside your iTunes Media folder. Drag an MP3 into it (while Music is running).

If the file is compatible, it will be added to your library in a moment. If it is not compatible, it will be placed in a "Not Added" folder.
