Messages will not deliver when I send from my iMac to an android phone, how do I fix this?

imacs and ipads can't send sms's the only way to send an sms to a non apple device is by having an iphone with the same appleID https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/send-sms-messages-ipad
sms exist outside of the internet and something needs to bridge between internet devices like macs and cellular network where sms's live and iphone can be that
another option is using whatsapp or facebook messager both which has macOS clients and android clients
