When attempting to add a new email address to reachable at in settings I receive the error “Invalid Email “ this is a valid email and it is not already in the list. The email is a gmail account I’ve used for over a year. The ultimate goal is to update my applied with the new email. Please advise

If you want to update your Apple ID with the gmail, don't add it to your Reachable At on the existing ID. That will prevent you from using it as your Apple ID email address. Try doing a name change on the ID to see if you can change it to the desired gmail address.
