Apple TV+ doesn’t work on my Apple TV ( I purchased in 2010). Do I need to get a new 4k Apple TV?

That would be a 2nd gen which saw it's last update in 2014 and was long ago classified as obsolete. It does not have access to the TV app, which is needed in order to access Apple TV Plus. You could either get a second hand 3rd gen or upgrade to a new 4th gen or 4K model. You also have the option to use a compatible Roku or Fire TV device (see list below)
