Type up and down arrows on iPad Pro Smart Keyboard

Hi,

How can I type up and down arrows on an iPad Pro Smart Keyboard or access Emoji & Symbols menu, as on my MacBook, to do so (the Symbols element is missing from the Emoji keyboard on my iPad)? I use both an English (British) and German (Swiss) keyboard layout. I need them to indicate strumming patterns in guitar tabs. I would really prefer not to have to resort to copy and paste all the time. Unless I'm missing something very obvious (a distinct possibility), I can find no way to do it or find any help relating specifically to this problem on this forum and, indeed, online.

Use an app like Unicode Pad, or create a text replacement in your iPad for the special symbols you need.
