problem with mail

Hi!

I have a problem with the mail application on my macbook pro mid 2014 with lastest macOS version. When I delete a message from an incoming mailbox in one of the mail accounts, the message instead of being deleted is moved to the "recovered messages" folder. I tried deleting the mail account and adding it again, rebuilding the mailbox - without success.

I am facing this problem since few months so in my opinion it is not related to version of macOS. I need to mention that the problem is only on one of the mailboxes I have.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem and could help me?

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.15

I just tried this solution - unfortunately it didn't solve the problem so it looks like plist file are okay.

Ok adamfromełk an odd issue, You can try—

Quit mail.

From the Finder>Go>Go to Folder, copy & Paste:

 ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail

Highlight all the contents in this folder. Place your mouse on the selection,

Then Control click (right-click) and choose "New Folder with Selection”. Do not move the new folder from this current location.

You can close the Finder window.

The next step will be to restart the Mac and test

After the computer is restarted, open the Mail.app> Preferences to see if it opens properly.

If no resolve try reinstall the combo update on top of your existing macOS 10.15.4 to refresh the applications. No data lose.

You have created rules https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mail/mlhlp1017/mac in mail preferences to move incoming mails to recovered messages ( iCloud ) .

Remove the mail rule in mail preferences https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mail/cpmlprefrules/mac

See some screen shots .

When rule was applied the mail received in inbox was empty .

And the mail receiving from a specified sender moved in recovered messages ( iCloud ) .

Hmmm...

If it is a corrupt plist you can try— quit the mail.app

and Delete the com.apple.mail.plist

From Finder>Go>Go To Folder, copy and paste:

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

relaunch the mail.app and test. The plist will automatically rebuild itself.
