Unable to install Java

I've attempted to install Java on my iMac running Catalina 10.5.3. After downloading the Java installer from Oracle, I double click on the installer and I get a message the Java 8 'can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious content'. How then can I download Java with this in place? Nothing on Apple Support flags this Java issue.
